The firefighters and EMTs of the Lannon Fire Department are cross trained to be able to aid and assist one another for basic rescue services
The Lannon Fire Department for many years operated with a Special Services Team
comprised of members from the Lannon, Lisbon, Menomonee Falls, Sussex,
Germantown, and Richfield fire departments. This Technical Rescue group was
trained and drilled in High-Angle Rescue, Trench Rescue, Building Collapse,
Confined Space Rescue, and Hazardous Material Responses. As the years have
progressed, hazardous materials and the other rescue responses have been
transferred over to the counties' emergency response teams. As of January 1st,
2008, the Special Service team has been formally terminated as a separate unit.
This should be of little consequence, as these emergencies are rare and the
people and skills are still in place for local and mutual aid operations. If it
is determined that more specialized skills and equipment are needed, the county
team will be called in, and if it is beyond their capabilities the next level of
skill is the
