- What is the difference between a fire engine and a fire truck?
- That is a very good question. A fire engine's main purpose is to
provide the personnel, the water and fire hoses to put out a fire. A
fire truck is an aerial unit, so it will have a ladder platform.
Fire trucks usually will also have a pump to provide a water supply
for the aerial unit.
