Village of Lannon Burning Ordinance
The Fire Chief may prohibit any and all burning when atmospheric
conditions or local circumstances make such fire hazardous
All Fires
Property owner permission is required before starting or kindling. The fire need to be attended and supervised by a competent person at least 16 years of age. Appropriate fire extinguishing equipment as determined by the Fire Chief needs to be on hand at all times. The fire must be completely extinguished with no coals or smoke left.
Campfires
Must be contained within a 3 foot by 3 foot area, not to exceed 2 feet in height. No permit required
Open Burning
- Authorization is required from the Fire Chief prior to kindling an open fire within the Village Limits

- Maximum pile size is 4 foot by 4 foot, not to exceed 3 feet in height.
- The location of the open burning shall be approved by the fire
chief and either:
- The pile of materials being burned shall be at least 50
feet from any structure, wood, or lumber pile, wooden fence,
trees or bushes, and provisions shall be made to prevent the
fire from spreading to within 50 feet of such items
- or -
- The fire shall be contained in an approved burner located at least 15 feet from any structure, wood or lumber pile, wooden fence, tree or bush.
- The pile of materials being burned shall be at least 50
feet from any structure, wood, or lumber pile, wooden fence,
trees or bushes, and provisions shall be made to prevent the
fire from spreading to within 50 feet of such items
- Fuel for open burning shall consist of dry material only and shall not be ignited with flammable or combustible liquids.
- Open burning shall be constantly attended and supervised by a competent person at least 16 years of age until such fire is extinguished. The person shall have readily available for use fire extinguishing equipment deemed necessary by the fire chief.
- Open burning shall be permitted only from 7:00 a.m. to one hour before sunset.
- Open burning is not permitted when the wind speed averages or is gusting to more than 9 mph
